Espoir Congo’s missionary training program motivates young adults to engage in the community and become mentors and role models. In a country ravaged by decades of civil unrest and unrelenting poverty, students are encouraged to engage in their communities with missionary initiatives such as hospital visitation and disaster relief. They receive a basic Bible Training Course called the 12 Foundation Stones, which enables them, after graduation, to teach their own group of students, thus fulfilling the vision of 2 Timothy 2:2. Some of the students launched out into various humanitarian initiatives, such as hospital visitation, using musical therapy.

Once students complete the Basic Bible Knowledge Course, we hold a graduation ceremony and a 3 day retreat for the laureates. Each graduate student receives a package with a CD and other needed materials that will enable them to become mentors and launch their own programs.

A training seminar further empowers those who wish to begin evangelistic work to become teachers of the Bible Course.

 

In 2012, a disaster relief missionary team went to Brazzaville to assist refugees from the massive March explosion. They also visited the wounded in two of the main hospitals using musical therapy, praying for the patients, and distributing faith-building Gospel literature.

Several of last year’s graduates have become teachers and are now holding new Bible Study sessions for other young people in various parts of Kinshasa, as well as visiting hospitals and bringing help to the needy.

 

As of 2013, Espoir Congo has been running an English Conversation Club with our Bible students, using Christian magazines such as “Activated“, Gospel songs and other faith-building materials to enable them to progress in their professional life while getting strengthened spiritually.
