Our school grounds have remained quite busy throughout the holiday months. The kids often come over for play, sports and activities and Florence even organized a summer camp for them. Thanks to our faithful donors, we’re able to continue serving them meals, for which they are very thankful.

But the main activity of the holidays has been the ongoing construction work: building a second story to the medical center, including showers and toilets, adding a terrace to the tailoring classroom, and making school desks and benches for the secondary school.

We have run into a setback with the iron work that was being manufactured in town (doors, windows, banister and stair gates) as our workman disappeared before completing the work. Thankfully, the doors and windows got done, which has enabled us to transport them to Kikimi. The worker’s brother promised he would find someone to complete the work and would replace the missing materials. Let’s pray it all happens as soon as possible, before the rainy season which would make transport much more difficult.

On the bright side, all the wood for the 75 school desks has been cut and planed in town, and has now been transported to Kikimi where the carpenters are assembling it all.

2         Maternity

Students may be on holiday, but babies continue to be born in our little maternity, even though we had to temporarily limit the number of patients coming for treatment during the dustiest part of the masonry work.

Ana still has one more step to complete before entering Medical School. She went to register and pay all the entrance fees, but still needs to pass the entrance exam which is actually a contest, as the number of students is limited. Please do pray for her to do well in the exam and to be accepted.

Our Youth leaders have been faithful to continue meeting once a month to plan the monthly fellowship, pray together and share testimonies. Olivier is keeping alive the vision for personal witnessing on campus, training his Bible students to win others to the Lord. And Gerse printed a new batch of 12 Foundation Stones student booklets for the young people he is training.
