End of School Year Celebration — July 2014
Celebration for End of School Year in Kikimi: We were very encouraged to hear that all 20 students who took the test to mark the completion of their primary school education passed with flying colors! That success put our school on the map as the #1 Primary School in the district for education (if you remember, last month we had already received first place for cleanliness, appearance and oversight of the children). On request on the school inspectors, we will hold a separate graduation for these 6 graders.
So Theo and Florence held the celebration to end the School Year as planned for the other grades (1-5) on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The kids performed skits in French, sang songs and waited with anticipation the results of their final exams. Of 180 students, 178 passed! Another amazing result, very encouraging both for students and teachers, and also for Theo and Florence who put all their heart into training these kids.
Gardening Project: This month, manioc was harvested, as well as peanuts and corn, which help supplement the kids’ diet.
Goods Distribution: During our absence, Theo and Florence have been able to collect all the usual donations of food and household items, which are the backbone of keeping the children in good health.
“If we make our goal to live a life of compassion and unconditional love, then the world will indeed become a garden where all kinds of flowers can bloom and grow”. — Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
