I have been appointed to bring the Word to the church “Sous La Tente”. This church has been established by Liliane Vernaud, daughter of Jacques Vernaud[1] who is one of the precursors of the Pentecostal movement in the DRC. Pastor Vernaud implanted the community of the Assemblies of God in our country and founded the church “La Borne”, one of the main Pentecostal churches here. The topic of the message that I brought to this church was obedience to the Word of God. The basic text that I used was the gospel of Luke in chapter 5 from the 1st to the 6th verse and I showed to my audience that obedience is important. Peter experienced a miraculous catch because he had obeyed the Word of the Lord. He said, “At your word, I will let down the net”. And because of his obedience, he experienced miraculous fishing that day, which shows us that if we obey the Word of the Lord we can experience miracles in our lives.
Pastor Liliane Vernaud appreciated me very much for the quality of my message and invited me again several times to preach. Once I taught about faith and another time about God’s plan for our lives.
I also wanted to share a testimony of God’s healing. I went to visit one of my 12 Foundation Stones students, Claudel, who was suffering from a cyst on his right foot and could no longer walk, but the doctors didn’t know what to do. While praying for him, the Lord put it on my heart to pray for the doctor’s divine wisdom. Right after the prayer, the doctor found a solution and decided to operate, and the operation was successful. It’s a testimony of the power of God who can act when medicine is limited. For me, it’s a miracle because it is God who gave the doctor the wisdom needed in answer to prayer. Claudel is healed now; he can walk again and continue with the 12 FS classes.
[1] Of Swiss origin, Pastor Vernaud became a missionary at the age of 20 and through his personal sample of a loving Christian he became the most revered pastor in the DRCongo, influencing the lives of many. After his passing to heaven in 2011, his daughter Liliane continued his ministry in Kinshasa.
