Year End Review 2013: Education
Primary School: We purchased more educational materials for the teachers, and the French School donated books for our 5th and 6th grades, which are not available locally. We held a graduation ceremony at the end of the school year in June, where all the kids performed in French songs, poems and skits. We opened a 6th grade class in September, making our primary school complete. A big thank you to Vipul who donated all the notebooks and pens needed for the school year.
We are starting to collect books for our future library, and purchased a program to keep track of them.
Parents/Teachers meetings were held throughout the school year, and school inspectors conducted interviews of the teachers and students. Our school received the 3rd best rating for the area.
The children are so happy to learn, and are doing well in their exams.
Tailoring Classes: The third classroom was used in the afternoons for the older orphaned girls and underprivileged women to take tailoring classes. In September, they were able to move into the new building sponsored by Exp-Communic’art. Espoir Congo fully sponsored the training of 15 underprivileged orphaned girls and women.
