August 2019 — Preparing for the new school year
Dear friends,
We hope this finds you well.
Theo and Florence organized a holiday camp for about 60 kids, from the neediest families. They distributed food and some of the pens and notebooks donated by the Rizwan Adatya Foundation, who faithfully has been supplying our school each year with all the needed notebooks and pens.
August is also the month to do maintenance on the school grounds and start preparing for the upcoming school year, when a new class will be opened in our secondary school. For this purpose, two new teachers have been hired.
No holiday in the maternity, where two more babies were born this month.
The construction of the staff housing is still waiting for the roofing materials, which have been delayed because of the blockade. But we just heard that, in answer to prayer, Theo found a solution with a flat-bed truck that made its way during the night through the narrow pathways and was able to transport the wood for the framework of the roof. It’s very encouraging! Continued prayers are welcome for the rest of the needed materials.
Youth Ministry:
Here are some news from Olivier, about his activities for the month of August:
“With the former graduates of 12 foundation stones, we started the study of the theology course “The Heart of it All” (which we had covered with Gino during our retreat in April-May) so that they may also benefit from the richness of this teaching.
Given the abundance of material, we decided to start with the topics that are controversial in our communities. Last Sunday we discussed the three introductory topics: “Becoming a mature Christian”, “Learning as a spiritual discipline” and “Free Will and Choice”. The participants were very enthusiastic during this meeting.
This fellowship was also an opportunity to praise and give thanks to God for the former graduates of the twelve foundation stones who have recently completed their university sutdies by obtaining their bachelor’s degrees at the University of Kinshasa in the oil and gas sector. They are Joshua, Puissance, Hermes and Rodrigue.
We prayed to the Lord Jesus for our young graduates so that they could find employment as soon as possible, because our country has a very high unemployment rate for young university graduates.
Many companies and enterprises, in their offer of available jobs, require a lot of professional experience, mastery of several foreign languages, proven knowledge of IT and other tools, conditions that are often difficult to meet by a young person who has just left the university bench.”
Please keep all these young people in your prayers as well!
Here are some quotes which speak to us at this time:
“Patience is waiting for God to solve problems that we cannot.”—Unknown
“There are three indispensable requirements for a missionary: 1. Patience 2. Patience 3. Patience.”—Hudson Taylor
“Teach us, O Lord, the discipline of patience, for to wait is often harder than to work.”—Peter Marshall
