1 Education
Thanks to our friends’ generosity, all our 6 graders were able to take their final exam. We are expecting good results, in spite of the many days of school they missed because of the COVID restrictions.
2 Health/Maternity
One of the new babies born this month came with a cleft palate and had difficulty nursing. In answer to prayer, a kind-hearted man donated a breast pump equipped with a kind of nipple which allows the baby the nurse. Another friend from “Operation Smile” arranged for the baby to have an operation as soon as he has gained sufficient weight. The baby is doing well.
Here are some of the babies who came for post-natal check up.
3 Distribution of goods/Services to the Poor
Mr. Mahesh arranged for his friend, who owns a supermarket, to donate food for the children. Neema also donated a large quantity of medical supplies she had collected, including food and clothing.
Florence’s initiative to raise chicken is going well, supplying eggs to feed the children.
4 Children Program
The STEPS Program continues to grow in more parts of Kinshasa, as Fabrice, Jacques and Aristote are training more teachers. This program is meeting a deep need for children to take part in fun and wholesome activities that teach them the values they will need to lead a fulfilling life.
Thanks to his association “PAS a PAS Congo”, Fabrice is hoping to find sponsors for this orphaned boy to attend school and for this little girl to develop her singing talent.
Aristote is also starting a program for teenagers.
The orphaned children Cedric is teaching are making slow but steady progress. A big challenge is to teach basic manners and social skills which are foreign to them from having been born on the streets without any supervision. He is at present looking for an instructor who will help them catch up and learn basic reading and writing so they can join a school.
