Launching the clean water project in Kikimi–May 2018
In the merry month of May… as the ancient song goes, we give glory to God for answering so many prayers on every front! Our eldest daughter joined us for a couple weeks to help us with the water project. It was wonderful to have her with us and also to benefit from her expertise in the domain of renewable energy.
1 Distribution of Goods
We would like to thank Mr. Suresh Moorjani from Dubai who donated medical supplies a few months ago as well as special educational books for the kids, and which our friend Neema passed on to us.
Thank you also to our local partners who continue to supply monthly food and sanitary products to the children: Marsavco, SOKIN, Mafricom, Congo Foods and SOFIA. You are wonderful and play a big part in keeping the children healthy.
2 Clean Water Project
We had a meeting with the hydro-geologist engineers who work with our daughter to go over the many details of the project. While the water tower is being built in town, the foundation for it is being laid in Kikimi. The actual drilling of the well is happening just now, and will be followed by the testing of the water before installing the solar pump.
We will keep you posted as progress is made. The time table is for the project to be completed by July 1st, on time for the children graduation day. A big thank you to everyone has generously contributed towards this project. If you haven’t yet, please know that it’s not too late to donate as we are still short of the total amount, but we are proceeding by faith, believing that what God has started, He will be faithful to complete. So often we have seen that, as we take a first step, God will take two for us and if we do our part, what we can do, He will do the rest, what we cannot do.
3 Medical Center/Maternity
You will be happy to hear that, after 12 long weeks, Florence was finally able to have her cast removed. Please pray for her complete recovery, that she will regain full use of her arm. The very next day, she went right back to work, just as a new baby was born, and was able to give the new mother some of the baby clothes we had brought from France, along with milk and laundry soap.
4 Sunday School Seminar with the STEPS
The Scripture Union gathered Sunday School teachers from 25 different churches to attend our seminar where we presented the STEPS Program, now completed in French. After explaining how to use this program, we had a workshop where each team of 2 or 3 prepared one part of a lesson, which they later presented to all. It was a lot of fun, as everyone contributed their ideas and talents, being passionate about their mission to instill in children a love for the Word and help them to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Everyone left with their own DVD copy of the STEPS. A huge thank you to each one who helped put this wonderful program into French, including the recording of some of the songs from scratch, not to forget the essential proofreading. Your labors of love will not only reach thousands of children in Kinshasa, but also throughout this huge country, as the Scripture Union will be spreading it in all the provinces where they have representatives.
5 Monthly Fellowship
During the monthly fellowship where all our Bible students get together, we showed the documentary on the rebuilding of the third temple, which was particularly eye opening in regards of what’s been happening in Israel lately. Accepting that the temple can be rebuilt on its original location, which is not where the Dome of the Rock is, as demonstrates this documentary, could bring a peaceful solution to the problem.
6 A timely answer to a 10 years old prayer
Last but not least, we are very excited to tell you of an answer to a very old prayer: the Mokali road has been redone, and even more so, a brand-new road is being made almost all the way to our school in Kikimi! It is changing our lives as it makes driving there so much easier! Now we just need to pray that they put tar on the road before September when the rainy season will start again.
Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your words.
Keep your words positive, because your words become your behavior.
Keep your behavior positive, because your behavior becomes your habits.
Keep your habits positive, because your habits become your values.
Keep your values positive, because your values become your destiny.
