April 2019
We pray you all had an inspiring Easter. Celebrating our Savior’s resurrection is always a spiritual high for us, as it is this heavenly vision which gives a meaning to our lives on earth and our lives to come. It’s hard to comprehend the depth and length of God’s incommensurable love towards us in giving His life so we could live forever, but it sure is wonderful and a cause for celebration, not only on Easter, but each day of our lives.
Gino just left today for Kinshasa. We’d appreciate your prayers for his protection, good health and anointing for the next couple months. Thank you so much!
1 Maternity
Another cute baby was born this month, another new life filled with hope for a brighter future.
2 Distribution of Food
Thanks to our faithful donors, Florence has been able to cook nutritious meals for the children, which they thoroughly enjoyed. It’s been very rewarding to see the kids growing healthy and studying well, thanks to a better diet.
3 Construction
Our workers came down with malaria this month, which slowed down the construction. But the plumber installed the main water and sewage system pipes.
4 Youth Ministry/Incubating Micro-Enterprise
One of our youth leaders, Gerse, was one of the recipients of our micro-enterprise grant, which enabled him to set himself up with a doctor’s case. He is now working as a doctor in the main hospital of Kinshasa, nicknamed “Mama Yemo”. In the pediatric department, he puts his whole heart in caring for the children who are brought to him, as well as minister to their parents, sharing the love and hope of Jesus with them.
5 Thank You
We are so grateful for your prayers and your support in any way you can. We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you to all those who continue to donate food and other products for the children: Mr. Mahesh, SOKIN, MARSAVCO, CONGO FOODS (Mr. Abdul). Thank you also to Marie-Thérèse, Yvan & Renate who faithfully help support the education of some of the students. Thank you to Steven Leuthold Family Foundation for helping with the overall budget and the construction. Thank you to “We Lift Up” for their help with the girls’ education and the solar panels for the staff housing, and big thanks to FCF for being the big wheels behind the scenes, not to forget all those who preferred to remain anonymous. Together, we do it better!
“While the resurrection promises us a new and perfect life in the future, God loves us too much to leave us alone to contend with the pain, guilt and loneliness of our present life.” – Josh McDowell
“The resurrection of Jesus changes the face of death for all His people. Death is no longer a prison, but a passage into God’s presence. Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there.” – Clarence W. Hall
