Happy thanksgiving–News from November 2018
Distribution of food and other products: Thanks to the generosity of faithful donors in Kinshasa, we are able to continue preparing meals for the children, and distribute food and household items to the needy. Good nutrition is closely linked to better studies, as demonstrate the good results our children get in school year after year.
Maternity/Medical Center: More babies born this month, and more happy mothers who received baby clothes, milk, soap and baby powder.
We were also able to purchase 3 more beds for the patients’ ward and a wheelchair for the medical center.
Tailoring Center: Our tailoring class has started manufacturing bedding for the patient ward as well as needed outfits for the doctors and nurses, which can also be sold for their benefit as part of their micro-enterprise.
Youth Ministry:
Bible studies and monthly fellowships continue, as well as personal witnessing in the streets and in the dorms at the university. Here are a couple of testimonies from Cedric and Olivier:
Cedric: I bless the Lord for all He is doing in my life and I believe from the depth of my soul that He hears our prayers, like His Word says, that he that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him. I really had it in my heart to go out witnessing. My work takes a lot of my time, as I work from Monday to Saturday, and often also on Sunday, so it hasn’t been easy for me to go witnessing or invite people at home to talk about Jesus or teach Bible classes. This Saturday, I was supposed to go to the office in the evening, but then things changed so I decided to take the opportunity to go out witnessing. I wasn’t sure where to go, but a voice inside me told me to go to a certain plaza. When I got there, there were a lot of people, so I sat down on a bench waiting for the Lord to show me who to talk to. A young fellow came to sit next to me. I felt a tug in my heart to tell him about Jesus. As we started talking, the Holy Spirit showed me several details about him, that he was a shegue (street kid) and didn’t even know his name. As he was telling me about his problems, I told him that the most important thing is to find God’s love, because Jesus said that if we seek first His Kingdom, all these other things will be added unto us. He eyes just brightened up when he heard that, and he gave me his hands so I could pray for him. I felt a real peace inside and the Lord told me to give him whatever money I had on me, which was the transport money I needed to go to the office later on. So I gave him everything I had and just then, I received a phone call telling me that the program had changed and I only needed to go to the office the next day. This really inspired me to see how the Lord had engineered things so I could meet this boy and a new soul got saved.
Another testimony is that the following Monday, during our weekly meeting at the office, the director made an announcement in my favor, demanding that from now on my department gives me at least one day off a week. I knew it was the Lord blessing me because I took the time to witness, and also answering the desire of my heart to now give me a full day which I can dedicate to witnessing. We have been given so much Word, from the 12 Foundation Stones course and the retreats, that we need to put this training into practice by witnessing and winning souls for Jesus. May the Lord help us to be His witnesses until His return.
Olivier: I continue to teach the 12 Foundation Stones at UNIKIN. Last month I organized a fellowship at home with all my students who have already received their Bible Knowledge certificate. We talked about “teaching others to teach others” (2Tim2:2) and shared some testimonies. We finished our meeting by sharing a meal together.
Often God demonstrates His faithfulness in adversity by providing for us what we need to survive. He does not change our painful circumstances. He sustains us through them. — Charles Stanley
Nothing is more important than to learn how to maintain a life of purpose in the midst of painful adversity. — Tim Keller
