1 Education and recreation
This month, the 6th and 12th grade students are preparing for their final yearend exams.
The majority of the children attending our school speak Lingala at home. It is very important for them to learn proper French if they want to get ahead in life. Here’s a first grade student learning on the blackboard.
To encourage the children, Mrs. Neema donated a scrabble game which the kids love using to learn spelling.
She also donated a ping pong table for recreation and skill practice.
Sports:
A shoot out game between boys and girls!
2 Progress on the promised wall
True to their commitment, the UPC university students have hired some masons to start building the wall around the school premises in Kikimi.
3 Maintenance
This month the solar pump needed to be replaced. All our gratitude goes to Mr and Mrs Shukla who supplied a new solar pump and its installation. Thanks to them, the school and the village can once again have access to drinking water.
4 Agriculture
Crop of corn and cassava. The leaves are prepared as a vegetable and the roots as a starch. Cassava or manioc is an important staple in the DRC.
5 Youth Ministry
On the first Sunday of each month, Olivier used to organize a get together for our youth leaders. Since transport is sometimes difficult for people, he now does it via google meet, which makes it possible for us to also join them from France.
