News from March 2019
This month’s newsletter will be very short, as the biggest focus, besides the usual running of things such as teaching the children and supplying medical care, has been the building of the staff housing in Kikimi, and for us, preparing Gino’s next mission trip to Kinshasa. I Clotilde am being held up by the care of my aged parents.
1 Maternity
Two more babies were born this month in Kikimi. We had a little scare with one of the mommies who hemorrhaged after the delivery. We got desperate in prayer for her, while Florence administered medication to stop the hemorrhage. We were so thankful when after a few hours the bleeding stopped. Thank God, He is so faithful.
Gino is preparing to return to Kinshasa in April. We are filling up a big suitcase with baby clothes which Florence will distribute to the newborn babies in the year to come.
2 Construction
The building of the staff housing is now well underway. The foundation has been laid and all the bricks that were made last month are now dry and ready to erect the walls. But first, the pipes for plumbing will be installed as well as the housing for all the electrical wiring. Progress is being made towards funding the solar panels. 3 Thank You
Thank you all so much for your faithful support. Thank you to all those who continue to donate food and other products for the children: Mr. Mahesh, SOKIN, MARSAVCO, CONGO FOODS (Mr. Abdul). Thank you also to Marie-Thérèse, Yvan & Renate who faithfully help support the education of some of the students. Thank you to Steven Leuthold Family Foundation for helping with the overall budget and the construction. Thank you to “We Lift Up” for their help with the girls’ education and the solar panels for the staff housing, and big thanks to FCF for being the big wheels behind the scenes. Together, we do it better!
The Gift of Friendship
Friendship is a priceless gift
That cannot be bought or sold,
But its value is far greater
Than a mountain made of gold –
For gold is cold and lifeless,
It can neither see nor hear,
And in the time of trouble
It is powerless to cheer
It has no ears to listen,
No heart to understand,
It cannot bring you comfort
Or reach out a helping hand –
So when you ask God for a Gift,
Be thankful if He sends
Nor diamonds, pearls or riches,
But the love of real true friends.
