Help needed for refugees of the Nyiragongo volcanic eruption
As mentioned in our last post, on May 23rd, the volcano Nyiragongo erupted towards the city of Goma, in the East of the DRCongo, where lives Richard and his family (For more info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p8UbSUSeEU Also https://youtu.be/e_r-KfJGWBk the first 7 minutes.)
Even though the lava miraculously stopped at the edges of the city, they were forced to flee because of the amount of ashes that was falling, the toxic gases, and the threat of a second eruption. This threat has now been dismissed, and the population has been allowed to return to their homes. However, the lava damaged much of the city’s water and electricity networks, and the returnees are facing both food and water shortages. A few cases of cholera have been reported as well. Richard has been planning to move his family to Kinshasa for over a year now, both for safety reasons and also to find more opportunities to promote his work as a film maker. Last year, he had organized an international film festival in Kinshasa and was to appear on national TV, which all got cancelled because of the COVID restrictions. Here is the trailer of his last film: “A Killing Machine”
Life in Goma having now become more insecure than ever following the volcanic eruption, we would like to help him move his family to safety as soon as possible. Thank you so much for any contribution you may be able to give for him to our paypal account <Paypal.me>. May God mightily bless you.
God loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor.9:7). And whatsoever we do to the least of our brethren, we have done it unto Him (Matt.25:40b).
